01 Sep Waterproof membrane repair for Westpoint Apartments, Nelson Bay
Professional service provides peace-of-mind for Body Corporate
In 2014, the body corporate at Westpoint Apartments in Nelson Bay (60 kilometres north-east of Newcastle) realised they had a problem. The waterproof membrane on the roofs of their two adjoining apartment buildings were beginning to fail. Clearly, they would need replacement as soon as possible.
Upon inspection of the 3-storey, older style complex, the R&BS team discovered a complication. They found the remains of a brick fence that had originally been built around the roof. Although it had been removed, the fence footings were starting to decay dangerously, allowing water to ingress.
R&BS wasted no time in completely replacing the waterproof membrane, and treating and encapsulating this footing area.
Complicated project is made straightforward
Ian Willington, Westpoint’s Executive Committee member, was impressed with the results. “R&BS could not have been more professional or more thorough,” he said. “”It was a fairly complicated project but I knew that they would be up to the task.”“They took no shortcuts, nothing was just painted over,” Ian said. “Rather than bang up some scaffolding, they used Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs) and did a fantastic job, with little to no disruption for the 16 unit owners and holiday makers.”
“The R&BS guys were extremely hard workers,” he said.
Clear communication provides confidence
“R&BS kept me right up-to-date at every stage,” Ian said. “Even if their quote had been higher than their competitors’ – which I’m delighted to say it wasn’t – I would still have chosen them.”“There’s nothing like the peace-of-mind you get when you know that a job is being handled by professionals, and that it’s being done right the first time,” he said.
“I’m glad we decided on R&BS.”
